Gate City Power Equipment joins the Kirkwood 5K corps of sponsors this year. The outdoor power equipment store, which is a sister to Alamance Outdoor Equipment of Burlington, just opened at the corner of Church and Cornwallis in Greensboro this February. Being so close to the Kirkwood neighborhood, it is a great go to choice for any yard maintenance supply needs. They also offer maintenance and repair on equipment.
Owner Justin Hammock and his family have participated in and supported the Kirkwood 5K for a couple years individually, volunteering and run/walking the race. Naturally, once they opened a local store, they were excited to be able to assume a more official role of support for the race and for Backpack Beginnings.
When asked what drew him to the race and Backpack Beginnings, Hammock said “I really appreciate all of Parker’s work and dedication to Backpack Beginnings and more importantly to children in need. She works tirelessly to help create a greater good, and to make sure no child goes hungry. We are lucky to be able to provide for our own children, and it is an honor to be able to help support and provide for others as well.”
Being a resident of nearby New Irving Park, Hammock and his family have an affinity for the Kirkwood neighborhood, and admire the community’s closeness as well as all the special events it offers. “Having attended multiple neighborhood events, it is nice to be able to in a way give back as well to the neighborhood by helping officially support an event that draws attention to the area.”
So, as summer winds down and fall comes upon us, and the grass needs a trim or leaves need to be cleared, hop down Cornwallis to where it meets Church to Gate City Power Equipment. They would love to have you in to check out all the great pieces of equipment they have available, from mowers to hedgers, chain saws, blowers, and YETI stuff! Who doesn’t love a YETI cooler? Keep an eye out for Justin and family at the race this year, he promises not to cheat by riding a mower!
