The next time you slide into a pair of Lee or Wrangler Jeans, zip up a warm North Face jacket, lace up your Timberlands and toss on your JanSport backpack, you are wearing a little bit…or a lot…of VF Corporation (VFC).
Founded in 1899 and now based in Greensboro, VFC comfortably blends the art and science of apparel in order to offer a diverse collection of apparel and footwear designed to fit any lifestyle. VFC boasts 30 brands to outfit consumers on a global scale for five coalitions: Outdoor & Action Sports, Jeanswear, Imagewear, Sportswear and Contemporary Brands. Their passion for creativity and comfort has produced a steady growth in sales to $11 billion in 2013.
Several years ago, I worked on the capital campaign for Greensboro Partnership and was fortunate enough to hear Eric Wiseman, CEO of VFC, speak to a group of Partnership investors. I distinctly remember being most impressed not only by his passion for VFC but also for the city of Greensboro.
I spoke to Sam Tucker, Vice President of Human Resources at VFC, about their involvement with the K5K.
“5K races are the types of events that resonate with our active lifestyle consumers – our tag line is ‘We Fit Your Life’. We are always on the lookout for projects that support the community.”
Greensboro is privileged to have global VFC headquartered in our backyard and K5K is privileged to have VFC as a returning corporate sponsor to our community race and cause.
Go ahead and check out all of their quality brands. I bet you are wearing one of them right now.
